XML-RPC problem with DreamHost

  1. I am getting errors using WordPress with iPhone. It previously worked and either an iPhone update or WordPress update suddenly started giving me errors with XML-RPC. I have done all the research and was told that I need to enable the XML-RPC with my webhost (DreamHost), however they say they cannot change it and I need to write PHP code to enable that feature. I am completely lost and not sure where to go. Has or is anyone having this problem between WordPress for iPhone, iPhone 3.0+ and DreamHost??

    Thank you for your help.

  2. I'm assuming that your blog is http://www.djmadamusic.com

I checked the basic things and it looks okay. If you are running into an error configuring the app to point to your blog then it is likely a problem in the app (it can have problems finding the data it needs in the HTML source of your front page). This has been fixed for the next release.

  3. Thank you for your help. That is my blog. When I tested the XML-RPC it showed active but would not connect through the app, so it was probably the last app update that created a problem. When will the next release be available?

  4. The next release is in beta right now. If all goes well it will be submitted to the app store soon.

  5. I'm having the same problem on DreamHost, by the way. I followed the instructions given here:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/130095

    ...and it still didn't work.

Has that updated WordPress app hit the App Store yet?

  6. Not yet - a few bugs still to squash... Should be soon, we're testing a 3rd beta now...

  7. I just had the same issue last night. Everything has been working just fine till last night when I got a username/password error (I hadn't changed anything). After not being able to fix it, I removed the Wordpress app from my iPhone and reinstalled it. Now I'm getting this same error you guys are talking about.

Is it related to Dreamhost? Or the iPhone App?

  8. Ok, so I've tried other iPhone apps and they work with my blog. So what's going on with the WordPress app? Does anyone have a fix for this?

  9. Chumbake,

Give me your blog URL and I'll try a few things...

I'm assuming you've turned xmlrpc access on in your admin console...

  10. Thanks for the offer to help. Yes I've turned on xmlrpc access. The app was working just fine with my blog for quite awhile.

My blog is shortappreviews.com. I'll be honest I'm new to the blogging scene and while I know computers inside and out, I'm super adept at anything related to code.

  11. Ok, tons of thanks to jb6262. I got everything up and running.

I appreciate your help on this issue outside forum. You went above and beyond to help me and now I can stick with Wordpress. I was seriously considering using something else because of this stupid error.

The fix was to turn off my theme and all my plugins and then set up the app. Then I turned the theme and plugins back on and everything continued to work.

I have lost one post since then that was definitely saved locally (but that's another issue for another forum.)

    Thanks again!!!
