WordPress for iPhone Forums

Hi, Ive just d'loaded the new WP for iPhone, version 2.0. I have tried to add my two blogs the first being http://fivexfive.co.uk and the second being http://assassin.fivexfive.co.uk. The error I get with the first blog is "communication error 406 unacceptable" so tried my second and got "communication error 404 not found".

The log in details are correct on both pages. What do I do next?

The first one - http://fivexfive.co.uk/xmlrpc.php - returns 406 unacceptable as the response from the server (just like the error message says), so you'll need to speak to your server admin about why that is. Perhaps something like mod_security is forbidding those requests.

Same thing for http://assassin.fivexfive.co.uk/xmlrpc.php - your server returned an error 404 status so you'll need to contact your server admin for help there as well.

hello, i have the same problem and my server admin says that they do not allow access to the xmlrpc file. Is there a possibility that you guys can get the app to work without this file in future?

*crossing my fingers and hope that it'll be possible*

The xmlrpc.php file in WordPress is what provides remote XML-RPC services (which is what the WP iPhone app uses). By blocking access to that file your server admin has essentially disabled XML-RPC services for your WP blog.
